I attended the Porter Grey presentation at The Standard in the Meatpacking District on my second day in New York. Designers and sisters Alexandra and Kristen O’Neill created a very realistic presence in the sense that I'd literally wear each piece right off the model. The key feature that caught my attention was the fabric detailing. Every piece looked lush and comfortable, ready to go out and enjoy springtime weather.
The pop of orange in the collection was a surprising finish. It really tied in the looks with these soft pastels and the harsh orange. Somehow, everything melded together, creating a cohesive and realistic collection. Even the models had orange polish on their fingers and toes. In some of the patterns, you can see orange dots as seen below.
The models Porter Grey cast were stunning. I mean, what striking features! Some of the girls had such personality- it was hard not to love what they were wearing.
This look and this model were, by far, my favorite. It has this simplistic ease to it, where it has the capability to transform from day to night, dress up or down, chic to boho. I loved what the designers captured in this look, using such soft, lightweight fabric (looks like a thick silk), and the pintucks are just amazing.
The presentation was exceptional and the venue was just as beautiful. I had to take a walk out out onto the patio to take in the views of the Hudson and get some great shots.
All I can see is how awesome it would be to live here. That day, my friends, is coming up.
